Business credit growth signals stronger corporate activity in Namibia

Business credit expanded during 2025 as corporate borrowing increased, providing a broader signal of commercial activity and business demand in Namibia.

SOURCE SIGNAL

The Bank of Namibia reported that annual growth in total credit extended to businesses increased to 6.8 percent in 2025, from 5.4 percent in 2024.

The improvement was particularly evident in overdraft credit, which grew by 8.8 percent during 2025 after contracting in the previous year. The Bank attributed the stronger credit uptake partly to easier monetary conditions.

COUNTRY IMPACT

Increased business credit uptake can indicate greater demand for working capital, investment and business expansion across the economy.

While credit growth does not by itself identify where businesses will invest, stronger corporate borrowing capacity can support commercial activity, service-sector development and the expansion of businesses requiring offices, operational facilities and supporting infrastructure.

RELEVANCE TO SUNGATE

Sungate is not dependent on the performance of any individual company or sector. A growing commercial economy nevertheless strengthens the wider environment within which mixed-use development can take place.

As businesses expand or establish regional and national operations, requirements can emerge for offices, service centres, technical facilities, administration, professional services and strategically located operational space. Sungate’s airport-adjacent position and mixed-use development framework provide a setting capable of responding to a range of such commercial requirements.
